If I close my eyes and think of Adrian, who do I see? I remember a quiet, unassuming man who got on well with everyone. I am grateful for Justin’s hospitality at Tolsta and I am still in touch with him, 18 years after this journey and not far of 40 years since, as a teenager he was part of a school expedition I led to the French Alps. A short holiday staying in Kirkby Stephen. Some pleasant walking and some tough and enjoyable cycling. Continue reading Kirkby Stephen – 2016
This was to be a holiday of two halves. For the first week, we had the family with us, we were five adults plus our two-year-old grandson Leo. This is something we have always wanted to do, but only now, in retirement, can we afford to treat everyone. Week two was just myself and Kathryn; we walked and I hired a bike for three days. We jokingly said that we needed the second week to recover from the first.
