We watched the sun rise over the cliffs, directly opposite our balcony, on the far side of the harbour. This was at 7.15am after which we slipped into our normal holiday relaxed mode, so it was 12.15 before we got going (I’m being too hard on us as this time did include a café con leche at the local). This was to be a holiday of two halves. For the first week, we had the family with us, we were five adults plus our two-year-old grandson Leo. This is something we have always wanted to do, but only now, in retirement, can we afford to treat everyone. Week two was just myself and Kathryn; we walked and I hired a bike for three days. We jokingly said that we needed the second week to recover from the first.

It’s a nice area and as I was going up & not down the views were very different. Felt strong on the climbs and heart rates were very low. Sat for a while in the sun taking in the stunning views whilst eating lunch. Came out onto the Tiede road at 950m and enjoyed the descent down to La Orotava which I last did slowly in the thick wet mist a few days ago. Continue reading Tenerife – 2015
